Comments:
Peter Hatzopoulos passed away peacefully on September 27, 2017, at the age of 87. He was born in Detroit, Michigan, on July 28, 1930. Peter relocated to Hermosa Beach, California, in 1946, along with his parents, Veniamin and Anastasia, his three sisters, Madeline, Evelyn, and Olga, and Madeline's husband, Pete. Peter remained in Hermosa Beach throughout his life. Upon graduating from Redondo Union High School, Peter entered the Marine Corps where he served, honorably, as an MP for two years and in the Reserve for six years. Following his discharge, he joined his brother-in-law, Pete Nicolau, in the family-owned, "Diamond Street Market" located in Redondo Beach at the corner of Diamond Street and Catalina Avenue. When the market was sold in 1967, Peter began his employment at TRW, where he worked in Mail Services, until his retirement in 1992. Peter was a respectful man with a warm and cheerful personality and a ready laugh despite suffering chronic back pain and multiple back surgeries, which he endured for many years. His presence and humor will be sorely missed by all who were acquainted with him. He will be especially missed at holiday gatherings. He was preceded in death by his parents, Veniamin and Anastasia, sisters, Madeline Nicolau, Evelyn Mitchell and Olga Constantino, and his brother-in-law, Pete Nicolau. He leaves behind his brother-in-laws, Alex Mitchell and James Constantino and his nieces and nephews, Ann (Mitchell) Hambly, Mike Mitchell, Christine (Constantino) Hare and Paul Constantino, and their families. A funeral service will be held at 10am on Thursday, October 5, 2017, at The Historic Church of Green Hills Memorial Park. Good-bye, Uncle Peter. "…It won't be a party without you…"
