Betty Lou Collins (Messer) passed away peacefully at her home on February 2, 2018 with family at her side, she was 85. Born Auguest 8, 1932 in Los Angeles, Betty grew up in the South Bay graduating from Redondo High School. Betty married Harold W. Collins and settled in Torrance where they raised nine children and were happily married for 52 years until Harold's passing in 2002. After their youngest child started school, Betty started her career in Real Estate becoming a successful Real Estate Broker for over three decades. Betty was preceded in death by her husband Harold W. Collins and beloved son Daniel Patrick Collins who passed away in 2014. Betty is survived by one brother Bob Messer (Judy) of Los Gatos; eight children Mike Collins (Wendy), Mary Larson (Chris), Casthy Sanders (David), Steve Collins (Debbie), Christine Hapgood (Jim), Tom Collins, Harry Collins (Lisa) and John Collins (Lisa), daughter-in-law Cary Jo, 24 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren. A viewing will be held Thursday February 15, 2018 from 4:00-8:00 PM at Rice Mortuary in Torrance. Funeral Services are Friday February 16, 2018 at St. Margaret Mary Church, 25511 Eshelman Ave., Lomita 90717.
