d. August 12, 2014. John joined the RBFD in 1960, working his way up to Battalion Chief to retirement in 1992. Along the way, John studied then became the department's first Paramedic Coordinator, was given the Cal St Fireman's Assoc. Valor Award for rescuing a drowning man off the RB Pier. John was very active in all Fireman Associations at the local, regional and state levels. Among many other pursuits, he mostly enjoyed life with his wife Ann traveling, hiking, gardening or just relaxing. He will be sorely missed.
