d. Oct. 8, 2021. Born in Torrance and raised in Hermosa Beach by her parents Roy and Jesse Jenkins. Karen married her high school sweetheart, Gene Day and together they spent the next 65 years together. She was a loving mother to two boys Mike and Patrick. Karen loved all holidays, especially Christmas. She loved to travel and long car rides to nowhere in particular. Pinecones, flowers, bubble baths, casinos, and little packets of condiments, are just some of the small things that brought her joy. Karen leaves behind her husband, two sons, daughter-in-law Laura, two sisters Kris and Kelly. Four grandchildren, Holly, Greta, Travis and Chelsee. And three great grandchildren, Clover, Sonny and Summer. Although her wings were ready, our hearts were not. She will be greatly missed but we take comfort in knowing that she has reunited with her parents and her younger brother Mike.
