IN MEMORIAM from the 1959 PILOT: "By all the hosts of us who knew and greatly liked and admired him, Mike Coyle, who died early Monday morning, January 26, would have been considered among those least likely to be called. He was a superb athlete, champion wrestler his last three years of school; he abounded in the joy of life, loving the grim challenge of competition, the horseplay and rollicking laughs of his gang, the sparkle in a girl's eye. His splendid body drank up the sun, grew strong and graceful, sang with strength—then it was blasted, and Mike was taken from us. All of those who knew him best have eulogized him without stint, for Mike played and fought hard, he was scrupulously fair, he was kind to those he threw and then taught how not to be thrown again. He moved in an aura of joy; his blond thatch flashed through the halls and his laugh echoed long after he had passed. So will our memory of Mike."
