d. May 24, 2018. June began her life journey in a rather unusual way. On June 1, 1942, her parents which consisted of her father, mother, and sister were taken from their residence in Redondo Beach, California and relocated as a part of the Japanese Americans relocation program as ordered by the President of the United States, Franklin D. Roosevelt. The family was sent to the Manzanar relocation center where they lived until their release on February 22, 1945. Six days after the family’s arrival at Manzanar, June was born. After spending the first three years of her life in Manzanar, the family was released and returned to their residence in Redondo Beach. June attended the schools in the area which were Washington Elementary, Hillcrest Junior High School, and Redondo Union High School. During her high school years, she was active in various groups and clubs. She graduated in 1960 with honors. After graduating from high school, June attended the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) where she graduated in June 1964 with her Bachelors degree. On July 11, 1964, she married Hajime G. Mochizuki. They were married for 53 years. June received her General Elementary Teaching Credential on June 10, 1964. She continued her education by earning her Administrative Services Credential in 1987 and Language Development Specialist Certificate in June 1993. After 45 years in the career of education, she retired in 2009 from the staff of the Rosemead High School where she was an English teacher. June now rests next to here husband in the Oakdale Memorial Park which is located in Glendora, California.
