Memories

Honors have always made me a little bit nervous, especially when they have come to me for achievements I truly enjoyed doing. What attending Redondo Union High School meant most to me was summed up in one word — opportunity. For example, prior to our senior year, I had completed all required courses in English, math and history with three summer school classes and was able to devote timeless hours preparing an uncensored weekly sports page for the High Tide. At the time, I had become a stringer for the Daily Breeze. In no time, I had developed incredible confidence in everything I would ever do in life. This was the result of opportunities given to me, from the athletic department to my English and journalism instructors. Altogether, newspaper and civic endeavors have enabled me to embrace friends from RUHS from 1935 to 1979;; thereafter the scope of my activities broadened more widely. However, the fact that through the Centennial Committee and Steve Felix's marvelous CaSearcher email connection, we are able to return to the hundreds of memories that have made life worthwhile, and none is more precious than that of our high school experience.
