Accomplishments

• Grew up surfing in the '40s and '50s, the days of balsa and foam surfboards
• 1960 developed the "jacobs Diamond," one of the most enduring surfing symbols to this day
• Co-founder of Dive 'n Surf, makers of surfboards and wet suits, working with and eventually selling to the Meistrells
• In the movies: provided surfboards for Robert August in "Endless Summer"
• Thirty-three years later, Adam Sandler appears on a street in New York with a little kid — someone on the street is holding a surfboard with a Jacob's giant label on it
