My days at RUHS are so long ago that much has been forgotten; only personal highlights remain such as playing cello in the orchestra as a freshman; three years of pipe organ classes (and listening to Nat King Cole in the cafeteria with those not having a lesson that day); being in the junior class play; and thoroughly enjoying doing the "Old Man's Dance" for our senior fiesta, and lettering in the GAA. Although I took college prep classes, my memories of them are few which may be related to early academic difficulties at UCLA. Nevertheless, overcoming difficulty was drilled into us at GAA, (e.g. playing field hockey against all the other league schools without shin pads) and we were expected to succeed. I am proud that my career as a teacher, first of physical education and then anatomy and pathology, was successful and I want to thank those at RUHS who chose me for this honor.
