Accomplishments

  • Set into motion "Project Pearl," which landed one million Chinese Bibles on Swatow Beach, South China
  • He and his team waited for the sun to set and then launched a small flotilla of "Z Boats" that pulled the Bibles in one-ton blocks to the shore, where some 10,000 Chinese believers unpacked them, carried them to waiting trucks, to be transported all over China
  • He wrote the book, "God's Smuggler to China" detailing this adventure
  • He is the son of Charles Sutphen, who was a teacher and principal at RUHS

Memories

It would take a book to write my memories. I remember almost all my teachers, starting with Mr. Tom Robertson, Mr. Doss, Mr. Al Dickhart, and coaches Bob Cardona, Mike Birley, and Seifert. So many classmates had a positive effect on my life, and learning from them the appreciation of cross-culture society, has helped me all my life around the world to this very moment. My father and mother were true Sea Hawks, (even though my dad was the hooky cop at RUHS).
