Memories

Mr. George Denis, my speech teacher was great. He took this shy teenager and helped me grow more confident speaking in public. This has certainly been useful in my life that has included a lot of public exposure. I was one of those few who took Latin. I met my future wife, Connie(Scritchfield, RUHS 1955), in that class. The speech fundamentals I learned in Latin class helped me later as I went on to a graduate degree in linguistics and my work of reducing unwritten languages to writing. The extra-curricular clubs were important to me. Serving as president of the Bible Club my senior year was one of my high school highlights. The leadership experience here has stood me in good stead all my life. The many great teachers helped challenge me from a mediocre student to one who was prepared to enter college successfully. This has in turn opened many doors to me. "Thank you" in each one of them.
